Introducing the OpenSSF Ambassador Program

By March 23, 2026Blog

We’re excited to launch the OpenSSF Ambassador Program — a global community of advocates who will help us promote secure open source development practices worldwide.

Why Ambassadors?

Open source security is a global challenge that requires a global community. While OpenSSF creates tools, frameworks, and best practices, we need passionate advocates to help share these resources, educate developers, and build local communities around secure development.

What Do Ambassadors Do?

Ambassadors are volunteers who:

  • Speak at conferences and meetups about OpenSSF and open source security
  • Write blogs, create tutorials, and produce educational content
  • Organize local events and workshops
  • Mentor developers adopting secure practices
  • Represent OpenSSF in their communities

Who Can Apply?

We’re looking for people who:

  • Are passionate about open source security
  • Have experience in the open source community
  • Are good communicators and community builders
  • Want to make open source software more secure

What Do Ambassadors Get?

  • Recognition on the OpenSSF website
  • Free tickets to OpenSSF Community Days
  • Travel and event funding
  • Direct connection to OpenSSF projects and leadership
