Become an OpenSSF Ambassador

Are you an active security leader or contributor? We are looking for credible advocates driven by a passion for open source security.

We evaluate candidates based on two or more of the following:

Active Contribution: Documented participation in an OpenSSF project or Working Group for 6+ months.
Community Leadership: At least one year of experience organizing security meetups or serving on program committees.
Public Speaking: A track record of speaking at industry events about OpenSSF or security.
Mentorship: Experience mentoring through programs like LFX or GSoC focused on security.

Applications Open: March 23, 2026.
Review Period: Rolling basis (1-2 weeks for initial response)
Initial Cohort: 10-15

Is this a paid position? No, this is a volunteer role recognized with professional rewards and support.
What is the time commitment? We recommend 10-20 hours per month for active engagement.
How do I represent the brand? OpenSSF Ambassadors must also adhere to the OpenSSF Ambassador Standards of Excellence. All use of trademarks must comply with Linux Foundation Trademark Usage Guidelines and OpenSSF Brand Guidelines.
Are there age restrictions on who can apply? Applicants under 18 years of age are not eligible.
