Secure Open Source Software Vision Brief 2025

On March 5, 2025, the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF), an initiative of the Linux Foundation, hosted the OpenSSF Policy Summit 2025 at The National Press Club in Washington, DC. This summit brought together industry leaders and U.S. Government (USG) officials, including representatives from the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), to address the security challenges related to the consumption of open source software (OSS) in critical infrastructure sectors and beyond.

During the Summit, the OpenSSF released a Vision Brief detailing our community’s work over the past year to secure open source software and plan for the future.

The OpenSSF community remains committed to driving security improvements across the open source software ecosystem. Download the Secure Open Source Software Vision Brief 2025 to learn more about our progress and future initiatives.
