Open source security isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people behind it. Developer Relations (DevRel) connects developers, maintainers, and contributors, ensuring that they have the tools and support to make open source software more secure and resilient. As Katherine Druckman, Open Source Evangelist at Intel, said in her recent episode of the What’s in the SOSS? podcast: “We solve technical problems with technical solutions, but there are also so many human problems that need human solutions.” This illustrates the heart of DevRel—bringing together people to drive progress in open source security.

At OpenSSF, DevRel plays a crucial role in ensuring that the open source community has access to the resources they need. Managed by the Marketing Advisory Council (MAC), the DevRel Community’s mission is simple: evangelize the mission of OpenSSF and build strong outreach to engage end-users and open source contributors.

Led by Katherine Druckman and Tracy Ragan, CEO of DeployHub, the DevRel Community is committed to empowering developers and building trust within the community, ensuring that security becomes a seamless part of the development process.

How DevRel is Empowering Developers to Build a Secure Future

In the latest episode of the What’s in the SOSS? podcast, Katherine Druckman shares how DevRel is transforming the relationship between developers and security, making it more accessible and approachable. Drawing on her experience at Intel and her long-standing passion for open source, Katherine explains how community engagement is key to fostering a secure development environment.
