Technical Initiative Funding

Apply for the OpenSSF Technical Initiative Funding

The OpenSSF supports its technical initiative communities by providing funding in areas of need. Some examples of funding are: audits, technical writers, and interns.

Who Qualifies

Existing OpenSSF TIs with a documented lifecycle phase (e.g., sandbox, incubating, or graduated) are eligible for funding.

NOTE: Depending on the lifecycle phase of your TI, you may already qualify for things like a logo, stickers, or other swag; see TI Gives and Gets.

How to Apply

  • Determine if you/your project is qualified for funding.
  • We’ll ask you to provide the following details about your TI including, but not limited to:
    • Funding Amount
    • Problem Statement
    • What’s needed to make the funding initiative happen
    • Requirement Summary
    • Funding Owner

The Review Process

The OpenSSF TAC is responsible for approving technical initiative funding requests with final approval from the OpenSSF General Manager. Reviews will be conducted bi-monthly – view the schedule.
